French Press: How to Brew

1. Boil a pitcher of water, then let it sit for 30 seconds.

2. Weigh 60g of coffee beans. I like a 1:15 coffee to water ratio. If you don't have a scale, fill the French Press about 1/6 of the way.

3. Grind your beans so that they resemble course sea salt.

4. Rinse the French Press with some of the hot water. This preheats the press for a more constant brewing temperature.

5. Place your French Press on the scale and add the grounds. Zero out the scale and add about 120g of the water. Swirl the grounds and let them sit for 30 seconds. This allows the coffee to bloom and ensures better flavor extraction.

6. Pour water until the scale hits 900g. This is roughly the middle of the metal band. Press the plunger about 2 inches down then raise it just below the surface to keep the grounds fully submerged. Let your coffee brew for 4 minutes.

7. Enjoy your fresh coffee! Press the plunger to the bottom and pour yourself a delicious cup.
